    Brief History
StampsCom was founded in 1996. They were the first company approved by the US Postal Service to offer a software postal package that allowed customers to use their personal computer, printer and internet connection to buy and print postage stamps online.
Customers paid a monthly subscription fee, purchased sheets of NetStamps labels and then purchased postage at face value. NetStamp labels were first offered in original format and then in themed photo format.
On August 10, 2004 StampsCom inaugurated PhotoStamps. Customers could use the internet to upload their unique digital photographs to StampsCom or purchase themed photograph stamps offered by StampsCom. StampsCom would print the PhotoStamps in sheets of twenty, send them via the mail back to the customer and charge face value plus a per-sheet fee for this service. On June 16, 2020 the production of customized/personalized postage stamps was discontinued.
