Description

Old time cork life preserver last inspected in 1937.
Used on the steamship S.S. Governor Cobb.
While still intact & quite solid, it will require careful handling.
Rough used estate condition: on one section, the cloth has ripped & frayed away from the cork; overall very dirty & soiled- perhaps more so than photos which were taken in bright sunlight.
The S.S. Governor Cobb was launched in 1906 and sometime after 1937 was transferred to Coast Guard Service.
An interesting and well documented old relic of the past.
